If you were to hear of a young man disappearing after a night of partying and ending up dead in a river, you might be quick to call it a tragic accident. You might think it was common almost, for young foolish drunk men to die in this manner. But why would you think that? One possibility is that you have heard of the sheer number of cases that seem to indicate this scenario. But what if this isn’t what is occurring at all? What if something far more sinister is taking place?

The trouble with these cases, the thing that got my attention, is also the very thing that seems to make them so dismissible. They are incredibly predictable. In fact in many cases they are practically cookie cutter. But some are so similar that they seem to go far beyond coincidence.

After my obsession with unexplained missing persons cases was sparked by David Paulides (as chronicled in my last post) I couldn’t help but begin to notice them more, and then Dennis Njoroge went missing. I saw flyers posted all around Boston, his eyes following me daily, and my heart fell. I had a bad feeling in my gut as I began to connect him to other cases. I remember telling friends gravely that if the precedent was correct, he would be found dead in the Charles River.

One month after he went missing, Dennis was found in the Charles. The Police did not suspect foul play, but very little information has ever been made public (and not for lack of trying let me tell you).

I don’t know what happened to Dennis, and maybe the police and his family do. Maybe he was a troubled boy who met a tragic but self inflicted end that cold December night. The fact is I might never know the truth due to the privacy of the family, but regardless, Dennis sparked in me the desire to go back and examine other similar cases in my city. Other cases where the truth seems hard to come by.

I decided to begin my own investigation of sorts, and I’m going to use this page to track my findings and hopefully bounce ideas off of others who are interested.

Here are the cases I have found so far, showing name, age, and month/year missing.

John Daverio (49)  3/2003

Dustin Willis (26) 3/2007

William Hurley (24) 10/2009

Eugene Losik (26) 2/2010

David Mark (24) 2/2011

Franco Garcia (21) 2/2012

Jonathan Dailey (23) 10/2012

Eric Munsell (24) 2/2014

Josue Quispe (18) 10/2015

Dennis Njoroge (21) 11/2015

Zachary Marr (22) 2/2016

And now I will take a closer look at each of the cases.

John Daverio was a beloved 49 year old teacher at Boston University. He was born in Philadelphia, and moved to Boston to get a PhD from BU. He later became the Chairman of the Department of Musicology there in 1987, a position he held until his death. He was considered one of the world’s leading experts on German Romanticism and Robert Schumann, whom he wrote several books about. (Ironically Schumann once attempted suicide by throwing himself into the Rhine river.) John was considered a happy man by all who knew him, and was lovingly caring for his elderly parents, indicating that suicide was unlikely.

Daverio was last seen on CCTV leaving the BU campus on the evening of March 16, 2003 at around 8:30pm, wearing a red jacket. He had left his wallet and briefcase behind in the classroom, but was carrying a white bag which was never found. After being missing nearly a month, his body was found in the Charles River on April 14, 2003, near the Cambridge Boathouse. Police did not suspect foul play, but his death has never been explained. Those close to him refused to believe he would commit suicide.

Dustin Willis11270_1

Dustin ‘Dusty’ Willis was from Hatteras, North Carolina. He became a PO3/E4 petty officer and Engineer in the Navy and was stationed in Norfolk, Virginia, as a crewman aboard the S.S. Donald Cook. Dustin was a musician, and was married but seperated, with a five year old son.

When Dustin was 26 the Donald Cook docked in Boston for Saint Patrick’s Day celebration. On the night of March 16th 2007 there were blizzard conditions in Boston. Dustin was out with his shipmate friends at the Black Rose Pub near Quincy Market. On their way out at around 11pm, Dustin’s shipmates lost sight of him in the storm. Friends state that he was sober at the time. He had spoken with his girlfriend several times that evening, and she confirmed this. When she called his phone the final time that evening a person that was not Dustin answered, and told her that they had found his phone. Dustin’s phone was found at about 1am on the ground near Long Wharf, but there was no sign of Dustin.

On March 21st Dustin’s body was found in 22 feet of water off Long Wharf, steps away from where his phone was found. Police surmised that he had simply become disorientated by the blizzard and slipped into the harbor.

William Hurley was a Navy sailor from North Carolina. He was stationed in Florida. On a stop in Boston in 2007 he met his girlfriend, and the two began dating. (Ironically he was in Boston the very same night that Dustin Willis went missing.) That December he moved from Florida to Quincy to live with her. William was invited by his friend Brendan Venti to attend a Bruins game at the TD Garden on October 8th 2009. However after only the first period and a couple of beers, he claimed he was tired from work, and was going to have his girlfriend pick him up. William stepped outside and called her, and she headed to pick him up. When she was close by she asked where he was. William asked a passerby who answered “99 Nashua Street”, and warned his girlfriend his phone was about to die. She told him she would be there in a moment and was just around the corner, then William’s phone died. When she got to the location, William wasn’t there. She drove around looking for him and asking people if they had seen him, but it was as if he had vanished into thin air. The search for William Hurley began but little leads were found. At some point his cellphone was found smashed, but Police released few details.

On October 14th William’s body was found at about 2:30am in the Charles River near 200 Nashua Street, 25 feet from shore. Police ruled out a mugging gone wrong as he had no injuries and his wallet and keys were still on him. Suffolk District Attorney Spokesman Jake Wark was quoted as saying the body had been in the water “a couple of days”. Perhaps it was a simple mistake, but William had been missing for six days, not a couple.

Eugene ‘Gene’ Losik was born in Belarus, and moved to the US when he was 7. He was an engineering grad of UMass Amherst, and a black belt in karate. He was 25 years old, living in Lawrence with his girlfriend and working for a company called Raytheon. On February 20th 2010 Gene was in the city celebrating a friend’s birthday. The group was staying at the Marriott Long Wharf hotel. After a night of partying, Gene was caught on CCTV at 2:24am leaving out the back entrance of the hotel without a jacket. He was heading into Christopher Columbus park, and friends say he was relatively sober and may have been stepping out for a cigarette. When friends awoke the next day they realized Gene was gone, and began to search. Police were led down to the docks by various scent dogs, and the water was searched by divers, but Gene was not found.

Nearly nine months later, on November 8th, Gene’s body was found near Rowes Wharf in the Boston Harbor. His cause of death is still unknown. Also unknown is why his body wasn’t found for six months, as drowning forensics indicate that it should have surfaced sooner. Some say it could have been weighted down, but the truth may never be known.

David Mark grew up in New York and had a Masters in Geography from the University of Albany. David had Type 1 Diabetes and was insulin dependent, and also had Aspergers. He was 24 when he went missing. On March 2nd 2011 David left the home where he lived with his parents in Albany and drove to Boston, where his sister lived in the Chestnut Hill area. David went and ate at Boston Beer Works near Fenway and had a few drinks. Employees said he was in good spirits. David never showed up at his sister’s house, and never returned home to Albany. The search for him was underway fast, as his parents knew he could Get sick without his insulin. His car was found several days later in Chestnut Hill, at 10 Middlesex Rd. but there was no sign of David. His phone was last pinged at around 6:40 in Boston, near the Charleston Naval Yard.

On March 8th a Boston fishing company found David’s body in the Chelsea River, downstream from the Andrew McArdle Bridge, 15 feet from shore. Police said there was no signs of trauma. His cause of death was not made public, but police say it was not foul play.

Franco Garcia grew up in West Newton with his Peruvian parents. He was attending a Boston College night school and studying chemistry, hoping to eventually go on to medical school. He worked full time at a CVS pharmacy in Waltham, and was musically gifted. On February 21st 2012 Franco was out with friends at Mary Ann’s Bar in Cleveland Circle. He was 21 at the time. He had made plans to spend the night with his friend Katherine Corteselli, though he flitted between several friend groups over the course of the evening. At 11:27pm he texted her a reminder: “Don’t leave without me”. Sometime after 12:15am friends lost sight of Franco, though his keys and jacket were still in the bar. At 12:18am Franco was caught on CCTV passing by an atm and heading toward Chestnut Hill Reservoir, and the area where his car was parked. He was not staggering, and friends described him as drunk but not smashed. His phone was last pinged about an hour later in the same area, but his car was left untouched. A huge search for Franco began, and his story was even shared by Bruce Springsteen. Police focused their search on the reservoir almost immediately, and searched it thoroughly, but nothing was found.

On April 11th at around 8am, Franco’s body was spotted in the weeds about 18 feet offshore in the reservoir. His wallet was still on him, and he had no injuries. Police described his death as being “consistent with an accidental fall into the water” but failed to elaborate on what that meant or why he wasn’t found before.

Jonathan Dailey (FB)

Jonathan Dailey grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina and played violin and piano. He studied architectural technology at Appalachian State University, and later moved to Massachusetts with friend and roommate Miles Smith. Jonathan was 23 and attending a grad program at Boston Architectural College, but was taking a semester off for financial reasons. The night of October 2nd 2012, he and Miles hung out and had pizza until Miles went to bed around 9. The next morning Jonathan was gone. He had left behind everything but his phone. Though attempts were made to reach him he never answered, and his phone was soon shut off.

On October 9th at about 7:30am, a rowing instructor near Boston University (about a mile from Jonathan’s Allston apartment) made a startling discovery in the in the Charles River. Jonathan’s body was tied with chains to a cinderblock at the bottom of the river. Police assured the public that there was no threat to safety, and implied that Jonathan had committed suicide. He had no history of mental illness.

Eric Munsell was born in New Brunswick, New Jersey. He went to Boston University and got a degree in aerospace engineering. He was working as an aviation engineer at General Electric, and was pursuing a Masters in mechanical engineering via the Edison Engineering Program. On February 8th 2014, Eric was celebrating his 24th birthday at the Market Lounge. He was escorted out by a bouncer at about 11:30pm for causing a disturbance on his way to the restroom. It was only 18 degrees out, but according to the bouncer Eric claimed not to have a jacket. A half hour later his phone was pinged heading toward the Harbor and not his North End apartment. He was caught on CCTV near the Marriott Long Wharf.

On April 23 at about 12:30pm Eric’s body was found in the water at the end of Long Wharf. Police did not find his death suspicious. Why he supposedly walked to Long Wharf then proceeded to fall into the water and drown is unexplained.

Josue Quispe-Almendro was a runner, a photographer, and a religious young man. He lived in Malden with his tight knit family and was just 18 when he went missing. Josue was out running errands with his brother on October 17th 2015. He dropped his sibling off at a Bed Bath and Beyond in Somerville at about 4:30pm. He failed to return home or answer his phone. His car was found then next day at 10pm in Quincy.

Josue’s body was found washed up on Saquish Beach in Plymouth on November 12th. The cause of death was not released but police said foul play was not suspected. How Josue got all the way to Plymouth is unknown.

Dennis Njoroge was born in Kenya, and moved with his mother to Worcester MA. He was attending Northeastern University and was an aspiring filmmaker who loved Quentin Tarantino and playing basketball. Dennis was excited to soon start a co-op job at a Boston News Station. He was 21 years old. On November 29th friends saw Dennis playing basketball at the Marino Center on Northeastern’s campus. This was verified by his keycard swipes. The next day he spoke to his mother on the phone, a conversation that she felt was perfectly normal. After that Dennis did not show up for classes, and did not respond to his mother. His phone was last pinged at around 2am on the MIT Campus in Cambridge.

On December 31st at 10am Dennis’ body was found by a jogger in the Charles River on the Boston side, near the esplanade and Arthur Fiedler Footbridge. The location is directly across from the MIT campus. There was no signs of trauma, and police were investigating the death as a “non-homicide”.

Zachary Marr (UPDATED) grew up in Leominster (not Harvard, as is often reported) MA. He was celebrating his 22nd birthday with his cousins at the Bell in Hand Tavern on February 13th 2016. At about 1:30 he went outside for a cigarette, leaving his coat behind. At 1:40 he sent a snapchat to his cousin Amanda Marr that said “They won’t let me back in, lets leave”. She agreed to come out. However when they got outside Zach was gone. According to CCTV and bouncer statements, Zach never asked to come back inside. He was caught on CCTV at 1:44 walking past Boston Public Market, heading in the direction of TD Garden and Zakim Bridge. Police later found CCTV footage of Zachary “entering” the water under the Zakim (this footage has not been released). It is unclear what that meant precisely, but teams immediately began to search the water in the area. Nothing was found, possibly due to extremely low visibility. Several more searches were conducted with similar results in that area of the Charles River. On March 15th 2016 at about 5:45pm passerby’s noticed a body in the water by the Museum of Science Boston and (ironically) the Leverett Circle State Police Barracks. It was Zachary. His body was found in a location consistent with previous searches. Why he left the Bell in Hand and walked about a mile to the Charles is still unknown.

Some more thoughts on Zach Marr

I made a visualization of where the victims were last seen vs where their bodies were found.

Screen shot 2016-02-19 at 11.02.41 PM

I think its particularly beneficial to take a closer look in the financial district.

Screen shot 2016-02-19 at 11.18.57 PM

The proximities of these establishments is incredible.

Furthermore, many of the the victims are related in other ways.

  • William Hurley, Dustin Willis, and Jonathan Dailey were all from North Carolina.
  • Willis and Hurley were both in the Navy.
  • Willis, Gene Losik, and Eric Munsell were all engineers. Franco Garcia was studying chemistry.
  • Garcia, Willis, Dailey, and John Daverio were all musically talented. Josue Quispe was a photographer and Dennis Njoroge was a filmmaker.

Furthermore some cases seem bizarrely linked.

Dustin Willis was a NC native who joined the Navy and was in Boston March 16 2007. William Hurley was a NC born Navy man who was in Boston that same night, and would disappear two years after Willis. Both were talking on the phone to their girlfriends seconds before vanishing. Both men’s phones were later found.

Eric Munsell was removed from a bar on his birthday without his coat, possibly told a bouncer that he didn’t have one, and vanished into the night. Zachary Marr walked out of a bar without a coat two years later on his birthday, and told his friends that he wasn’t being allowed back inside. Both were later caught on CCTV.

I can’t claim to know just now what any of this might mean. all I can do is present the puzzle pieces that we currently have, but I know we are still missing far too many.

What I am certain of is that something terrible is happening to people all over the country, maybe the world, and the Boston cases are only a small sampling of it. I hope that someday this mystery can be solved to prevent future deaths, and pain for their families. Until then I urge everyone to make sure that YOU are not the next victim. Do not go out alone. Do not go near the water alone. And if possible, avoid wearing the color red. It’s a color that shows up often in David Paulides’ missing persons cases, and William Hurley and John Daverio were both wearing it when they vanished.

  1. Have you considered that the similarities…cold, no jackets, left hot establishments (quick drop in body temp), drinking…could be all be contributing factors to hypothermia which would cause them to become confused and disoriented. None of them had signs of a struggle or injuries and all were young men who would be able to defend themselves. This seems a more logical explanation than something sinister.

    • Possibly in some cases, but in recollecting my earlier years that I came out of hot bars and had been drinking, I remember feeling more awake and more oriented when I hit the cold air. There were also a number of them that were not drinking, or had a couple and were relatively sober, so this explanation doesn’t wash with me in those cases, in particular. In these cases and even in some of the other cases nationwide there is cause for suspicion. A couple of them were Navy guys and used to navigating around vessels in ports in large bodies of water after being out in ports and very likely drinking as well. The circumstances surrounding those cases certainly have inspired me and many other people that I personally know to question these cases, and rightly so. Why wouldn’t we? Look at the case of Jonathan Dailey. As someone else on this blog stated, he walked 5 or 6 blocks from his apartment to the BU Bridge with a cinder block as well as chains and nobody noticed him? Really? Also, assuming that he went off the bridge, the logistics of him doing this without being seen are questionable, particularly if you look at the time it would take him to accomplish this. Iif you take a look at that bridge, it’s not something that a person can just leap over with a cinder block and chains. It’s solid concrete from top to bottom, approx 4 or 4.5 ft high with a “railing” that’s approx 2 feet across. That would take some time to do. I agree that some of the the cases nationwide appear to be accidents or self-inflicted, but others look very sinister to me as well as to many others. People instinctively know when something is off.

    • Way to many people in Boston not to hear someone’s cry for ‘help I’m drowning! No matter what time it is. Plus no woman nd every one thing, male and between 20-30?

    • It’s too much of a coincidence that they all just happened to end up in the water. And look at the dates….. coincidence again? Sounds like maybe the City of Boston is hiding something. Maybe they are concerned it will effect tourism….. kind of like they did with that infamous shark on Martha Vineyard. Very scary.

    • Now in Franklin 20 year old goes missing after leaving a party. Where he was last seen abuts the Charles River. May not be related but an aweful lot of the similarities. Have you ever heard of the Green River Killer ? That went on for years before years before they caught the guy . No foul play is just saying they can’t proof it p. That doesn’t mean there wasn’t any.

  2. Most women and older people aren’t outside in the cold without a coat. Then again, you aren’t explaining why these men have no signs of a struggle either, so I guess we could go back and forth. I’m just offering a reasonable alternative to your theory.

    • Many of the men did. And many of the bodies have had things happen but not distinguishable from normal trauma from a body that’s in the river. I mean I understand not going back and forth, but once an anomaly is astablished the obv explainations no longer apply.

      • What anomaly was established? What characteristics of these events even remotely say “serial killer”? Try applying Occam’s Razor, instead of wild speculations with nothing tangible to support them.

    • As someone who has been “slipped a mickey” i can tell you first hand….well no I can’t because I cannot remember anything past the comment made “Sit down and have a drink I’ll get your pay” to this day no memories at all about that night and its scary. I suspect they were incapacitated in some way because walking away from your friends/group would be something a disoriented person would do.

  3. This is too similar these stories are too much alike theres something going on these arent just coincidences theres no way everything down to there phones jackets there courses there studying to few not drinking with no mental illness ever recorded this is very weird and to me something is happening to these people to make them do this this isnt something normal these men are very smart and young it doesnt make sense and why they arent found for about 2 months in the water and how almost all of them say they tripped in shore makes no sense at all some heavy investigating needs to take place cuz this sounds very odd to me

  4. David Smith also had some kind of medical condition or illness and needed daily medication to survive but didn’t have his medication with him.

  5. I never understood how these men tend to separate from their friends and leave the bar, arena, etc. by themselves. You would think they would be more careful considering how many young men and women are missing in this country.

  6. Also, why isn’t there a national task force to get to the bottom of this? Why is there no footage, ever, on CCTV,at the point of the disappearance? Why aren’t the coroners letting the cause of death be publicized? Something is definitely fishy. A young intelligent man named Dakota James just ended up in the river while out on the town with friends in PA. He was found dead but we never heard anything else about it.

  8. Not sure if its possible but what if they were hypnotized to be triggered by something related to going to a bar? Which would indicate technically there is a serial killer but doing it in an unconventional way. Would explain the no struggle and the fact no one is ever caught on CCTV with these people.

    • Yes that’s what I was thinking…its almost as if they’re being lured by someone on their phones by some sort of hypnotism…so weird…..

      • Susan,
Are you think it is a siren calling these men to the water? Perhaps issues in their lives calling them to the water? a terrifying thought if there death was willful… is it a technological siren calling them as u suggested? Is it a serial killer temptress taking advantage of drunk college boys?

      • Susan,

  9. This is an interesting story because the Pittsburgh area has seen a string of similar cases over the past few years. In looking at these victims, there is an eerie similarity between the ones mentioned here and the ones being found in Pittsburgh.

  10. So ahhh, any of you hear about the body of a young male in his 20’s found in the river near the Boston Hatch Shell/Eaplanade on 04/22/17 *earth day* I live in Southie with my Fiance’ which is only about 5 miles away (if that). I actually just celebrated a year clean/sober (from Heroin, etc.) so I really dislike going to bars/clubs to drink 7up + I’m 36 years old. And I am very aware of my surroundings, some would say even hypervigilant. And trust me, I can handle my own. So I’m not particularly nervous about myself, I’m almost 6 ft. tall 210 lbs 😁 but I DO worry about friends and strangers alike in the area that don’t deserve to go out like that 😦

  13. Elise, I heard you on Crawlspace, which reminded me that there are three cases that have had almost no press. Last year there was a blurb about a male found at the waterway somewhere near the Children’s museum. Then the body at the muddy river which was missing for 8 months, and now the body on Earth Day. Are you working to get more info?????? Is anyone? Do you have research partners—maybe the Crawlspace guys?

  14. wow. so i too have been investigating this and we should chat. I have been focused specifically upon the long wharf deaths as I myself found one body there back when I worked for BHC and then had a super hair raising experience with what I think was a serial killer on long wharf one night while I was investigating the body I found and reported.

    • what does BHC stand for? Do tell us more details about your hair-raising situation. This is for real and public safety is at risk. Was the body a young male without obvious signs of trauma? Did you find the body in the warm weather? Do you know the identity of the victim and the circumstances of his missing— does it fit these patterns?

  15. Hello,

I know you are primarily focused on cases in the Boston area, but figured you might be interested in a very similar one from New Jersey.
Matthew Genovese, 24, went missing 1/23/2016, after leaving a Hoboken bar blocks from the Hudson river. Being familiar with these cases, the first thing I thought when I heard this report was, “Watch them find him in the river.” Sure enough, even it was midnight during blizzard conditions (for which he was under-dressed), he apparently walked in the opposite direction of home and was found on 1/26 in the Hudson.

  16. The first thing that comes to my mind is the one thing all youngmen have in common. They will often walk to somewhere private or our off sight to pee. Especially late in the evening if they have had a few drinks and can’t gain easy access to a bathroom. Perhaps the waters edge is slippery or not properly guarded. It sounds as though the area of the disappearances is a party area, was this the case prior to 2001? If not it could explain why this started around that time. I also wonder what the lighting is like in the evening? Maybe there was low visibility on the nights the men disappeared. This theory could explain why this is happening to men only. Girls would rarely walk off on their own to relieve themselves and older men would also be less likely to do this which could explain the age bracket. I would be interested to know if any females have disappeared in the area?

  17. I too think this is all related and not suicide. I think possibly drugs in the drink, but I’m leaning more to the phones, didn’t all these guys have their phones when they left? Some were found broken/etc but could someone be sending some sort of signal through the phones to hypnotize the guys and telling them to jump when they got to the water?

  18. La Llorona, she will get you if you are not careful. Those men were mad at people that they were on the phone with. Anger clouds judgement, some people abruptly walk off to nowhere when angry. Poor judgement will land you with the succubi, from Sirens to Llorona to Lilith herself, be careful young aggressive ones.

  19. I wonder if they were injected with a hypodermic needle containing a powerful sedative rendering them unable to fight off an attacker. Almost all were young & healthy. And unless a body is cemented down, the sea always gives up the body in less than a month. The lack of trauma to their bodies would also support this injection theory. After being submerged in water for some time, a puncture wound would not be apparent during autopsy because of deterioration of the skin.

  20. I think something is being taken from these guys but I haven’t figured out what it is. Not money, drugs…but something else. Something that is being taken and tested or something that is being taken and stored, etc. What could it be that all of these men have in common? There are cases where two women ended up in water recently…Toni Anderson and Teleka Patrick.

    • These disappearances are happening everywhere….but many in the North East and Great Lakes region. Happening in the UK too. All the same. Men aged 18-28yrs old. They disappear without a trace under unusual circumstances and then they end up in the water weeks later. I used to think along the lines of serial killers…..but it’s too widespread. My theory? Somebody wants their DNA. The question is who? And even more importantly, WHY?

    • This has become so common its alarming, by now over more than 20 disappearances found dead later on. Puzzling that authorities seem very gullible or they look the other way about what is going on. When they find 20 yo Michael Doherty dead, Are they gonna say for the 25th time that it was an accident and that foul play was ruled out? Where is the media that seems vague about it as well.. Shouldn’t the press begin knocking on the Governor’s door for answers and awareness?

      • The press are the very people who should be reporting on these cases and conducting follow-up investigations. They have the power to get answers! Also, not to be insensitive or crude, I wonder if most of these young men leave alone to hookup with someone they met online.

  21. The smiley face ‘gang’ is supposed to go after college age guys either out of jealousy or gay hate crime. Why wouldn’t the cops release film footage or seek help to ID. It’s either sex trafficking or hate crime. Have you checked to see if there is really a body.

  22. @ELD… i was thinking the same thing with the whole “meeting online” aspect. Not to disrespect at all.. just trying to figure something out. It said he “charged his phone” before leaving. Could mean something? Someone posting a fake ad?

    • Dakota James from PA was found in the river after he responded to an ad from G—dr. I think police have to look into social media and possible hookups.

      • I agree 100%. Whoever is doing this is getting connected to these guys before they kill them. I don’t think they’re just randomly
        Passing them on the street.

      • Totally agree with you about social media and possible hookups . My brother was on a social media hookup site the same day he went missing . 8 month later his body was found in the fens muddy river .

  23. I was wholly skeptical of this theory prior to reading your timeline/ summary. Now there is a 26 yo male who went missing the other day over by BU and this other young kid who has disappeared in Franklin. Which, if somehow related, is very concerning as it does not fit the usual patterns. There was also the kid about a month or so ago, who had a fight with his mom and went to a pond etc. area and they found his cell phone and shirt on the rocks but he “drowned” in the water. Why would he go in the water if he couldn’t swim? Keep up your inquiring and speculating!

  24. An Indian-American is missing in Boston. His parents said he failed to return home-Ram Jayakumar, 26, is his name-A Brown graduate..

  25. Another body found this morning in the Charles River; The media said cops were able to identify the man because they found a wallet, however they would not release the name and they believe “no foul play” it’s part of the case.

  26. Michael Doherty of Franklin matches the profiles listed here. Thoughts and prayers to friends and family of the young Mr. Doherty. There needs to be a FBI or larger law enforcement look see perhaps to find out if the data matches a pattern or this is normal.

    • That’s is ridiculous. The Franklin situation is nothing like any of these other cases. It’s purely a kid that screwed up. Besides, he wasn’t found in water.

      • I’ve been following the Franklin case and at first I also thought it was a drinking/drugs issue. But now the more I read, the weirder the story gets. There was a post on this site I saw regarding david paulides (feb 2016?) and it has a checklist that really does closely match the Franklin case. (he wasn’t in the water but he was real close to water). I’m not saying it wasn’t drugs/alcohol but I’d be curious to hear Elise’s thoughts on it.

  27. I lived in boston for many many years. I lived in fenway. I work late at night in the clubs. We where always out and about at 3 am or later. I can tell you that I saw bodies in the fenway more then once that never made the news or were ever talked about. Cops with crime tape and corners trucks and nothing in the news. I know there where two or more serial killers in the fenway that had been killing gay men for decades. Stories people would take about but no one knew the truth. One used to smash their heads in with cinder blocks. It mostly happened over by the victory gardens in the willows over there. There was always weird gay stuff going over there because of the gay club ramrod was a few blocks away. Its got another name now I think. Guys fucking in the willows and killed. They never report about this stuff because of how many collages are right there and they don’t want to scare kids. Plus I think they wouldn’t talk about it because it was mostly happening to gay men. Maybe they didn’t care?? Then the last year I lived over there they found a foreign exchange student / nannies torso in my dumpster and the rest of her body parts around fenway. That did make the news and there was a huge crack down on police presents and public outcry. There is a lot more killings in boston then the public hears about is all I can really say. So I would tend to believe there is some truth in this article. I wanted to post this so you see its not just men who disappear in boston

    • The Swedish nanny murder happened in 1996 and to my knowledge the killer or killers up to this day were never found. I would say that is something else, not related to the more than dozen young men that had been disappearing only to be found drowned in a body of water or near one days or many weeks later.

    • I agree, but the more puzzling thing I saw on the news yesterday was Boston police chief William Evans repeating again that there is nothing out of the ordinary with all these deaths, that kids are irresponsible for getting drunk and once drunk just not knowing what to do with themselves, and he also sort of blamed the friends for not looking after their drunk friend? I thought that remark was odd.

  28. I’ve posted here before and I’ll say it again. These are ritual killings based on ancient rituals having to do with Osiris. Read about the myth of Osiris and you will see how it matches up. These killings are not
Happening in the water but away where rituals are performed and the bodies placed in the water. The people who are doing this are part of a religion based on Egyptian mystery schools. They have members in all walks of life but especially military inteligence, cys, morticians and more gov related jobs. I was contacted by one of the ex detectives who is working pro bono for the families after one of the victims relatives contacted me. Keep thinking it’s a serial killer. You are wrong. There are over 400 deaths in 15 years. Alan Moore who was the inspiration of the Smiley Face has clues throughout all of his work. From batman to watchmen and especially his new comics. He is an occult leader and is also the inspiration for anon because of v for vandetta. Two of the bombings also match up with drowning cities. Manchester and Boston. John desouza an ex FBI agent also knows people from the top are shitting down local investigations. Google him and Smiley Face interviews. It’s not alchohol, serial killers, femme fatals, sirens, cold weather. It’s a cult/religion.

  29. I saw a news report on this the smiley face killer! There are other young men missing and being found in a river in other new England states.

  30. I have gone back and forth b/t the BPD statement (accidents) and the more nefarious explanations. And right now, I am leaning towards nefarious. here’s why; if we accept the BPD theory of drunk, 20-somethings males accidentally falling into water, then wouldn’t we also have a corresponding amount of drunk, 20-somethings males ending up in other types of bad/weird situations? Like getting hit by trains/buses, falling off roofs, falling into construction sites, walking onto I-93, etc.. ?

  31. Not just in Boston. Happening all over US where there’s a university or two and a river. Young men are often slight, under 5’8, and not suicidal. If even 50% of these cases are nefarious, we are talking hundreds of “no trace of foul play” victims over 15 years. The perp has to be highly mobile, inconspicuous, perhaps even appear trustworthy or appealing to young men. Very organized, and careful not to amp up the thrill. Just google “missing student.” It’s mind boggling.

  32. Is it possible, that seeing as how there seems to be certain trends here, and all started with drinks at “Bars” (or in the one case, possibly not drinking, but was still at the establishment nonetheless), that maybe these men were thought by someone or a group of people to have homosexual tendencies?? Homosexuals and bisexuals are targeted by far too many. So one of my questions would be if there are any outspoken, or KNOWN, people/groups in that area that would go so far as to take the lives of anyone they think MAY be gay or have homosexual tendencies when they drink??

This is so sad and so angering that very little is said or done about these deaths. I had never heard anything about this until tonight when I came across your articles.

Thank you for being their voice and continuing to ask questions!! Something is DEFINITELY NOT RIGHT!!

  33. Wow, another one in the same pattern! Young, white, male, night of drinking, ends up in a waterway. They always are quick to say “no foul play is suspected.” How can there not be foul play at least suspected if a man ends up in a waterway?

  34. I live in MA and thought about a boy found 1 town from me. Please check into this one also…20-year-old Michael Doherty of Franklin, MA. And if you missed it…watch DR PHIL’s show from Feb 20, 2019. I just saw the show after my brother in TN told me about it and my 1st thought was the kid from Boston and the kid from Franklin, MA. And sure enough…one of them was on Dr Phil’s show.

    • As I have written here before, this guy was not a victim of the SMKs. He was drunk, tried to take a short cut home on a cold, stormy night, somehow got confused and gave in to exposure to the elements. Supposedly, he was found sitting st the base of a tree.

I was playing golf at a course that abuts the search area. It is all swampy, wet lands.

      • Nice try. Commenting on here without verification of who you are and how you have that knowledge precludes you from discouraging, including or ruling out anyone. Who’s to say you aren’t a detective that wants to make questioning and discussion go away because it’s unsolved. Or worse yet, part of the SFK network.

      • Oh, okay dipshit. If you want to fabricate and contort every situation to play armchair detective, go ahead. The kid was at a small private party, in the suburbs, with his HS friends – at one of the kid’s house. One of my kids was teammates with his friend. He was trying to walk home and take a short cut. Go ahead and fabricate whatever you want out of that. Idiot.

  35. Again, you are just an anonymous person typing words, none of what you say can be verified. I actually have facts from the same case that indicates he was drugged and abducted and I live across the street from his parents. See how easy that was.

  36. My father was found in the Charles River August of 1997 after having been reported missing a few days prior. He was a homeless man at the time of his death and honestly I think that’s why it wasn’t investigated and further. I was only 15 years old at the time so obviously I didn’t know any better and because my mom,and I were estranged from my father at the time of his death and because he was an alcoholic we just assumed he had fallen into the water after having been drinking and drowned. These stories make me wonder. Only thing that throws it off is my father was 51 years old at the time of his death. I wonder if any other homeless men have been found in the Charles after going missing!?

    • Already found dead after a party around Mission Hill area Sunday morning, however Boston police detective repeat in every case they have found the victim that it is not suspicious. I don’t get it.
